Danielle Harms is a dissertator earning her PhD in English and Creative Writing at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she is Furrow Magazine‘s faculty advisor and served as Cream City Review‘s nonfiction editor. She received her MFA from George Mason University, where was the editor-in-chief of Phoebe and an Assistant Term Professor.

Her fiction, essays, and poetry have been published in Conjunctions, Mid-American Review, New Letters, and the American Literary Review. She is a winner of an AWP Intro Journals Award, a Pushcart Prize nominee, and a staff scholar at both the Bread Loaf Environmental Writers Conference and the Bread Loaf Writers Conference. At UW-Milwaukee she was awarded a Distinguished Graduate Student Fellowship, a Digital Humanities Teaching Fellowship, a Distinguished Dissertator Fellowship, and a UWM Teaching Fellow Award. Her work made the “Notable Essays” list in the 2023 Best American Essays.

She is at work on a novel about female friendship and the complications of pregnancy in Post-Roe Wisconsin.
